The Children's Outpatients Team at Salisbury District Hospital have recently made improvements to their paediatric phlebotomy clinics. These improvements are designed to increase availability of this valuable service and also improve the experience for the patient.

A dedicated clinic now runs most weeks (on either a Thursday or a Friday) and these require a pre-booked appointment. The clinics, run by an experienced member of their nursing team, are also attended by a play specialist, and sometimes a therapy dog as well to provide an additional distraction. This clinic has longer appointment slots for those patients who may require a bit more time to provide a successful, blood taking experience.

Appointment slots can be booked by parents who call the new designated paediatric phlebotomy booking line on 01722 336262 ext 2414 between 9:00am to 4:00pm, Monday - Friday. 

Children aged 5 years old and above who require a blood test can attend the drop-in service (operating Monday to Friday) within the Salisbury Hospital pathology department alongside adult patients. Please note there is no specific paediatric waiting area in the department and paediatric staff will not be in attendance for these appointments.
