You may book a consultation at a time and with the doctor of your choice. We try to ensure that consultations are always available within 48 hours. However, due to various reasons, we may not always be able to provide an appointment at short notice with the doctor of your choice.
If you find that you no longer require your appointment, please do let us know, so that we can release this for someone else.
To book these appointments please contact your surgery using the details at the top of the page or on the specific branch page.
Alternatively use the Online link at the top of this page.
Please let us know when booking an appointment if you need to be seen downstairs.
We have duty doctors available in mornings and afternoons at each surgery to speak to anyone requiring an urgent appointment. We do need a telephone number from you, on which the doctor can contact you and, if necessary, the doctor will arrange to see you within a few hours that same day.
These have been introduced so that patients who do not need to see a doctor in person, can speak to a doctor on the telephone.
They are obviously not suitable for patients who might need to be examined, but for quick and simple queries, when you want to speak a specific doctor, they are ideal. The appointments are spaced out throughout the week. They have also been introduced so that the triage doctors are not overwhelmed with telephone calls, many of which are not urgent matters.
The triage service is only for urgent matters that cannot wait until a normal appointment is available.
The triage or duty doctor service is available both morning and afternoon for urgent medical matters. The doctor may not be able to take your call immediately especially at busy times but if you leave a contact number with the receptionist the doctor will get back to you. The doctor will be able to offer you an urgent appointment that day if necessary.
The duty service does not deal with routine matters, such as test results or referral queries. The receptionists may redirect your call to someone else in the surgery team for answers to these queries.
Choice Of Practitioner
Patients have a right to express a preference of practitioner. Please ask when you make your appointment if you would prefer to see a particular practitioner.
Who Is Entitled To An Appointment?
All registered patients are entitled to consultations. If you fall ill while away from home, or if you are not registered with a GP but need to see one, you can still contact your nearest practice to ask for treatment. You can receive emergency treatment for 14 days. After that you will have to register as a temporary resident or permanent patient.
